passed away peacefully on August 23, 2010 after a long illness.
She was born in Providence a daughter of Wallace and Jane (Carmody) Crooks of East Providence. Janice was a graduate of East Providence High School and St. Mary's of Notre Dame. She worked in management at Verizon for many years. Besides her parents she is survived by her two sons, Michael and Stephen Whitney, and her sister Marilyn Banigan and her husband Philip. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00 A.M. in St. Martha Church, Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence. Burial will be private. Calling hours are respectfully omitted. July 6, 2010 Polly (Pappas) Player, 93, longtime resident of Juniper Street, Ipswich, and the wife of the late Gordon C. Player, died Tuesday July 6, 2010 in the Port Healthcare Center, Newburyport following her long illness. Born in Ipswich April 17, 1917 daughter of the late George M. and Annie (Katchevelis) Pappas, she was raised in Ipswich, a 1934 graduate of the former Manning High School. Married in 1941, she and her late husband owned and operated the Player Trucking Company, the P & A package store and later the A.J. Barton Monument Company all of Ipswich. Mrs. Player was lifelong member of the Greek Orthodox Church in Ipswich and was a member of the Eastern Order of the Eastern Star. She was a Past Matron of the Heard Chapter #94, and Past Deputy Grand Matron of the Grand Chapter of Massachusetts Eastern Star. She is survived by a son, Gordon C. Player, Jr., a daughter, Pollyann LePage and her husband Philip, four grandchildren, Matthew J. LePage of CA, Ashley E. Sotiropoulos of Ipswich, Christopher A. Player of VT and Nicholas L. Player of Ipswich, and two great grandchildren. She is also survived by two nephews, George Pappas and James Pappas both of Rowley, nieces Janet Squires of Georgetown and Katherine Anderson of Lowell, and sister-in-law and dear friend Julie (Pappas) Burke of Georgetown. She was predeceased by her brothers Michael Pappas and Nicholas Pappas both formerly of Ipswich; sisters Julia Adelson formerly of Holyoke, Katherine Abell formerly of FL and Helen Pappas formerly of MI.Her funeral service will be held Friday July 9, 10 am graveside in the Cowles Memorial Cemetery, Town Farm Road, Ipswich. Summerville, South Carolina – Mrs. Joan Lee Welenc 77, of Summerville, South Carolina, formerly of Rowley and Danvers, beloved wife of the late Edmund Welenc, died unexpectedly, Wednesday evening July 7, 2010 at the Summerville Medical Center in Summerville, South Carolina. Born in Billerica, she was raised and educated in Peabody and was a graduate of Peabody High School. Mrs. Welenc began her professional career as a Teacher’s Aid with the Danvers Public School System. She spent the majority of her professional time with the former NYNEX- Information Resources Company, until the time of her retirement. Joan was a long time resident of the Town of Danvers prior to moving to Rowley and more recently she resided in Summerville, South Carolina. She was a member of the Red Hatters and had a true love of family. Joan is survived by her daughters, Diane Ouellette and her husband Gary of Groveland and Joanne “Jodi” Farrell and her husband Kevin of Groveland, her sons, Michael Welenc of Raymond, N.H., Thomas Welenc and his wife Desiree of Raymond, N.H. and Brian Welenc of Summerville, South Carolina, seventeen grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late James Welenc and sister of the late Shirley, James and Kenneth French. June 21, 2010JARONCYK, John Newburyport, MA passed away Monday, June 21, 2010. John was born June 24, 1935 in Glen Cove, Long Island NY. He joined the Navy a week before his 16th birthday and sailed around the world. He served during the Korean Conflict. After an industrial accident, John became a foster parent working with teenaged young men in crisis. He provided emergency shelter for more than 130 teens and was recognized by the State of MA for his exceptional service. John was predeceased by his wife of 25 years, Mary Barbuti with whom he had five children. He is survived by his wife Ann (Sherar), with whom he just celebrated 12 years of marriage and by his children Denise Proto and Bob Fritz, Ted Jaroncyk and wife Jill, Stephanie Harris and Kevin Trodden, John Jaroncyk and wife Katherine, Christopher Jaroncyk and wife Judy. He is also survived by his stepsons Michael Sherar, Erik Sherar and wife Sarah and stepdaughter Sharon Freeman and husband Peter and his sister Margaret Langhorn. He was predeceased by his parents Anna and Teddy Jaroncyk and his sister Annabelle Licata. He is also survived by 6 grandsons, Daniel, Michael, Connor, Cory, Andrew, Matthew and several nieces and nephews. an assisted living facility for a month. He had a couple of problems so
they aren't sure what caused his death. He was 85 years old. I'm doing
OK. Had my 85th birthday on February 14. My wife and I looking forward to
spending the summer at our shack in Kennebunkport.

Elsie was a co-owner and chef of the Bide-A-Wee Restaurant in Marblehead and worked in the accounting department at the New England Telephone Company in Salem and Lynn, retiring in 1987. Elsie had many interests and particularly loved reading, gardening, cooking, and was famous for her blueberry pie. A tremendous lover of the arts, her creative talents led her to explore many artistic mediums and encouraged the arts in her children and grandchildren. In addition, Elsie enjoyed going to her summer home in Maine and traveling with her husband. She was a warm, loving wife, encouraging mother, wonderful grandmother, and a lifelong friend to so many. She will be truly missed by all who loved her. Lynn resident, homemakerLYNN-Mrs. Lorette F. (Bourgeois) Bourque, age 89, of Lynn, died peacefully on Sunday in the Kaplan Family Hospice House after a brief illness. She was the wife William A. Bourque, with whom she shared 64 years of marriage. Born in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada, she was the daughter of the late Antoine and Alma (Gauvain) Bourgeois. She was raised in Canada and has lived in Lynn since 1958. A homemaker, Mrs. Bourque had also worked for Wayne Manufacturing in Lynn many years ago. She was a communicant of the former St. Jeans Parish, and of St. Mary’s Parish in Lynn. She enjoyed beano, music, singing and dancing. For over 15 years, Mrs. Bourque enjoyed spending time every day at the PACE Program in Lynn. Remembered as a wonderful mother, her family was her greatest joy. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons; Leo Bourque and his wife Lisa and Louis Bourque and his wife Donna, all of Lynn; four daughters; Joanne Gallagher and her husband Jack of Lynn; Lucille Massa (worked in CSD)and her husband Bill of Topsfield, Jacqueline Heuston and her husband Ed of Middleton, and Janice Flynn (worked in CSD) and her husband Jim of Peabody; one brother; Gus Bourgeois and his wife Leona; two sisters; Anese Landry and Rosanne LeBlanc five grandchildren; Jeffrey, Melissa, Lauren, Ashley and Christine; three great-grandchildren; Jessica, Kaitlyn and Andrew; and many nieces and nephews. Born in Medford, Edmund was the son of the late Elizabeth M. (Daly) Sheehan and Edmund J. Sheehan. Edmund was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend and will be missed by all. Edmund "Mundo" Sheehan graduated from Malden Catholic in 1946. He served in the United States Navy from 1946-1948 as a seaman on the USS Witek. Returning from military service, he attended and graduated with a BA from Merrimack College in 1952 . Immediately upon graduation, he began a distinguished 40 year sales career with The New England Telephone Company . He was recognized for his outstanding sales achievement in 1982 when he was inducted into the New England Sales Hall of Fame. Retiring in 1992 as an executive of the NYNEX Company, Mundo continued with his passion for sales in the Real Estate business. During his retirement , he was a proud inductee into Malden Catholic Hall of Fame, Class of 1944, for hockey. Mundo will be remembered by so many for his love of his family, children and grandchildren, displayed by his constant presence in their lives. He loved to attend sporting and dancing events. Ed and his wife, Anne, cherished their 57 years together and the sharing of their love of family and friends. Ed was also presented with the "Celtic Cross Award for Courage" for his perseverance after suffering a stroke in 2001. Edmund was the beloved husband of Anne H. (Hartin) Sheehan. She was raised in Lynn and was a graduate of Lynn English High School, class of 1970. She also received a Business Certificate from Marion Court Jr. College. Debbie had lived in Lynn for the majority of her life, but had also lived in Gloucester, Peabody, Revere, and Georgetown over the years. She had worked as an Ad Placement Specialist for Verizon and Idearc (now known as Supermedia) until her retirement after 20 years of service. She was a member of CWA, a volunteer at HAWK, and certified in Reki. Debbie was loved by so many and will be sadly missed. She loved and enjoyed her children and grandchildren, shopping with her mom, camping, the ocean and reading. She was always willing to help anyone in need or lend an ear and only saw the best in everyone. Those who knew her only had wonderful things to say about Deb for the wonderful person she was. In addition to her husband, and mother, she is survived by 2 sons Jason McCarthy and his wife Kim, of Ipswich, Peter Lovasco, and his wife Lynnette, of Beverly, a daughter Lisa Modugno, and her husband Robert, of Lynn, a sister Cheryl Kalil and her husband Bill, of NH, a brother David Dowling and his wife Nancy, of NH, 2 grandsons Kyle and Ryan Lovasco, 2 granddaughters Desiree Modugno and Katelynn Lovasco, a step brother James K. Born in Woburn on May 29, 1938 and raised in Woburn, she was the daughter of the late Hubert and Mary (Slaney) O'Donnell. She was a longtime resident of Nahant before moving to Danvers in recent years. A graduate of Woburn High School, class of 1956 Mary retired from Nynex Yellow Pages Company in Middleton in 1995, following a career as an Executive Assistant for over twenty years. Mary was a beautiful poetry writer, some of her work over the years was published in various articles and newspapers. An avid cross word puzzler, Mary loved to golf, dance and be with her family and friends. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a loving, sparkling personality and smile. She was a beautiful, warm and gentle person who will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother and friend. Mary was a member of the Woburn Drum and Bugle Corps, a Square Dancing group and the Nahant Red Hat Society. Mary leaves behind her best friend and cherished companion of ten years, Leonard Ryan of Peabody; her children Cheryl Treacy and her husband Jimmy of North Andover, Lisa Romano and her husband Terry of Danvers, and her son Daniel Carey and his wife Yukie Carey of the Phillipines; four loving grandchildren Dylan and Connor Treacy of North Andover, and Lauren and Jenna Romano of Danvers; two step daughters, Nancy Fox of Arlington, VA and Jennifer Fox of Hindsdale, Ill.; brothers Sonny O'Donnell of Pepperell and Phillip O'Donnell and his wife Luci of Missouri; her dog, friend and companion, Rocky; several nieces and nephews. Born in Beverly, daughter of the late Paul and Louise (Theriault)
Kelley, she lived in Beverly all her life. She was a graduate of Beverly
High School, Class of 1943. Lorraine was an avid Red Sox fan. She loved
animals, particularly her beagle "Casey." She loved spending time with
her family, including her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. She
will be missed by all who knew her.

Donovan of Beverly; two great-grandchildren, Kayla and Kerry Donovan of
Lynnfield. She is the mother of the late Daniel F. Donovan, who died in
2001. She is also the mother-in-law of the late Jeffrey W. Saunders; the
sister of the late Lawrence Kelley and Dorothy Coults; and the
sister-in-law of the late Ruth Modugno

MARTINEAU, Rev. Father Laurier J. M. Age 77, passed away on Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at Regina Cleri in Boston. He was born in Salem and ordained by Cardinal Cushing in 1959. Over his 50 years in the priesthood, he served at the following parishes: Sacred Heart, Brockton, St. Jean Evangeliste in Newton, St. Mary's in Marlboro as Pastor, St. Joseph in Waltham, St. Jean-Baptiste in Lynn as Pastor, St. John in Winthrop. He was also past chaplain of the National Guard and Brockton Fire Dept. He retired to Carmel Terrace in Framingham in 2004 and moved to Regina Cleri in Boston in 2009. He is survived by 5 brothers: Henry & Lucille of Clifton, NJ, Maurice, Bernard & Ginette, Jean-Guy & Marianne, Jean-Claude & Isabelle all of Salem, 4 sisters, Sister Irene, SASV of Dracut, Jeannine & Arthur Francis of Salem, Annette O'Brien of Wellesley and Marie-Therese & Thomas Brien of Billerica. He is also survived by 30 nieces and nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews and friends including his adopted family, James & Louise Tantillo of Brockton. Predeceased by his brothers, Joseph and Richard. His visiting hours on Friday, April 9, 2010 from 2 to 7 p.m. in Ste. Anne Church, 290 Jefferson Ave., Salem. Lifelong Lynn resident
LYNN-Eva J. Tetrault, age 90, passed away Friday, April 2, 2010, at her home surrounded by her loving family after a lengthy illness. A lifelong resident of Lynn, Eva was the wife of the late Ernest Tetrault with whom she shared 62 years of marriage, and the daughter of the late Stephen and Ella (Gallant) Mansfield. She was a Communicant of Sacred Heart Church. Eva was a devoted wife, a loving mother, a grandmother who always had time for fun, and a proud great-grandmother. Spending time with her family was her greatest joy. Surviving her are her four children, Jim Tetrault, and Linda Tetrault, who were her devoted caregivers, Betty Ann Hinds and her husband Tom, all of Lynn, and Richard Tetrault, of Harrington, Maine, four grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Stephen, Walter, and Earl Mansfield. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the nurses and staff at All Care Hospice for the care and support given to their mother over the past 6 months. child her family returned to Chelsea and Helen made her home in Chelsea
for the rest of her life, she attended St. Stanislaus Elementary School
and was a graduate of Chelsea High School. She worked as a secretary for
many years for the Employees Group Insurance Company which was located in

March 21, 2010 SEABROOK, N.H. — William E. Dawson, 78, husband of Sandra J. (Bertone) Dawson (formerly worked in Credit and Collections), died Sunday, March 21, 2010 at Lahey Clinic in Burlington.Born in Beverly, son of the late Elmer and Alice (Grigas) Dawson, he lived in Beverly most of his life and in Seabrook, N.H. for the past 10 years. Mr. Dawson was a graduate of Beverly High School, Claude H. Patten Trade School, Class of 1951. He was a wood pattern maker and was employed at Beverly Pattern for 25 years and Santin Engineering in Beverly for seven years and was retired. Mr. Dawson was a former member of the Beverly Lodge of Elks, serving as an Esquire. He was also a member of the Franco American Club, the Italian Community Center, a member of RC Model Club and Trowt Unlimited Club. Mr. Dawson was an avid hunter and enjoyed travelling and fishing trips to the Caribbean Islands, especially Aruba. Surviving him in addition to his wife are two sons, Jeffrey S. Dawson and his wife Lenora of Rowley, and William E. Dawson Jr. and his wife Eleanor of West Newbury; one daughter, Debra A. Dawson of Danvers; one sister, Patricia Davenport and her husband Robert of Rowley; one granddaughter, Danielle D. Yagjian and her husband Jared of Groveland; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Guy and Sonny Dawson, Barbara, Alice LaPointe, and Joan Ranieri. January 16, 2010 Ellsworth W. "Gary" Garrison died peacefully in the early morning hours of January 16, 2010 at The Chateau, Moorings Park, Naples, FL. He was 93 years old and had been a resident of Naples for about 30 years. His wife of 60 years, Doris French Garrison, predeceased him. He is survived by his three children and their spouses, Donna Crocker and her husband Ronald of Uxbridge, MA, James Garrison and his wife Marcia of Hertford, NC, and Robert Garrison and his wife Janice of Surf City, NJ and Vero Beach, FL. He leaves seven grandchildren, Andrew, Peter, Aaron, Naomi, Michael, Eric, and Trevor; and eight greatgrandchildren, Evan, Samuel, Thomas, Aidan, Maya, Arabella, Ashton, and Leo. He also leaves Margerie Murphey of Moorings Park, a special friend. Gary was the oldest son of Walter and Ethel Garrison. He was born and raised in Hawthorne, NJ and graduated from Montclair State Teachers' College in Montclair, NJ. During WW II he served in the Army Air Corp as an instructor and navigator, achieving the rank of captain. After the war, he began a long and distinguished career with the Bell System Yellow Pages. In the early years, he worked for New England Bell in Boston, MA and later was transferred to AT&T when the offices were still at 195 Broadway, New York, NY. For his work, he traveled extensively around the country. Upon his retirement in 1981, he was praised for his work on the national level and some called him "Mr. Yellow Pages." Gary and his wife Doris chose to retire in Naples, and bought property there in 1979. During their retirement years, they enjoyed traveling to Canada, various European countries, and Australia. However, it was to the family beach house in Surf City, NJ on Long Beach Island that Gary and his family returned every summer. This was and continues to be a very special place for his whole family. Above all else, Gary valued and dearly loved his family and close friends. He had a good sense of humor and was very thankful for his many blessings. We will miss him greatly. A memorial service at the Bower Chapel at Moorings Park, Naples, FL will be held at 4:00 p.m. Friday, February 19, 2010. Burial will be in New Jersey later in the spring. BEVERLY — Muriel G. Henderson, 82, died peacefully in her home on Sunday, February 21. Born in Somerville, Massachusetts she was the daughter of the late William & Rose (Studley) Grace. She was the loving wife of the late Fred Clark Henderson.Muriel worked at Nynex YP in Lynn for 26 years before her retirement. She enjoyed her home and loved being around her family. Her favorite pastime was watching television. She also enjoyed spending time with friends, traveling and an occasional trip to the casinos. Muriel was a wonderful mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend. She had a heart of gold and was loved by all who knew her. Along with her family, she will be sorely missed by her close friends and neighbors. Muriel is survived by her daughter, Donna Bertolon and her husband Henry of Beverly, a son, Michael Henderson of Kensington, New Hampshire, three grandchildren, Jennifer, Alyssa and John Bertolon and several nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her adored cat, “Little One.” She was predeceased by five sisters, Mildred Amerault, Madeline Harrington, Hilda Barry, Marguerite Novak and Vera Evans and one brother, Arthur Grace.  Retired Verizon Yellow Pages employee MARBLEHEAD - Bernice A. Langlois, age 82, of Marblehead, formerly of Lynn, died Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2010 in a local nursing home after a brief illness. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Dorothy (Germain) Langlois. Bernice was born and educated in Lynn. She worked in sales for Verizon Yellow Pages before her retirement. Formerly, she worked for Kennedy's Department store in sales as well. Bernice was active with the Lynn Historical Society, Friends of Lynn Library, Senior Coalition, Wall Towers and St. Mary's Parish. She is survived by her two sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Macaione of Lynn and Sr. Dorothy Marie Langlois, C.S.C (Sisters of the Holy Cross) in California and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Frank, Albert, Robert and Charles Langlois, Marie Minor and Theresa Dooley.
